Claire

Claire is the proud owner of Playground Pantry, bringing over 15 years of experience in school catering and a real passion for providing children with fresh, nutritious and delicious food. She believes healthy meals should be something children look forward to, creating balanced menus that keep young diners happy, fuelled and ready for the day ahead.

Rachel

Rachel is a valued part of the Playground Pantry team, bringing energy, care and a helping hand to the kitchen every day. As our Kitchen Assistant, she helps keep everything running smoothly and plays an important role in making sure our fresh, tasty meals are ready for hungry young diners.

Free School Meals

Eligibility and support

If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, please contact the school office to ensure they are registered. Playground Pantry will provide meals at no cost to eligible children.

Eligibility from 2026

From the start of the 2026/27 academic year, every child in a household receiving Universal Credit will qualify for free school meals, regardless of household earnings. This change is part of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026.

The two groups

Targeted: Households earning £7,400 or less on Universal Credit, or receiving other qualifying benefits.
Expanded: Every other child in a Universal Credit household, regardless of earnings.

Schools and local authorities will monitor and recheck eligibility on an ongoing basis. For more details or help applying, please contact your local school office or visit the official government guidance.
